IKEGAMI DISPLAYS TAPELESS ENG, FULL LINE OF HD, SD, STUDIO, AND
FIELD CAMERAS, AND NEW LCD MONITORS AT GV EXPO 2004

GV Expo 2004 WASHINGTON DC CONVENTION CENTER, BOOTHS 1009-1011, OCTOBER 6 & 7 Ikegami, the world-leading manufacturer of high-quality broadcast and professional video production solutions, showcases a stellar array of fully digital camera systems and monitors at this year’s Government Video Technology Expo (“GV Expo”) 2004, October 6 and 7 at the Washington DC Convention Center.

“Ikegami is exploiting new technologies with CMOS-sensor image acquisition and LCD-panel image display,” says Alan Keil, VP and Director of Engineering for Ikegami. “GV Expo visitors will see these new technologies, as well as our tapeless, non-linear ENG solution that’s based on proven Ikegami recording technology that’s still new for much of the market.”

This tapeless recording system--which uses removable non-linear FieldPak2 media of up to 80 GB capacity--is central to Ikegami’s DNS-33W Editcam3 camcorder. A proven performance leader in tapeless ENG and EFP production, the DNS-33W is a next-generation 520,000-pixel AIT (Advanced Interline Transfer) CCD camcorder that offers shooters such revolutionary innovations as Retroloop and Timelapse recording, as well as many other easy-operation features. The 80GB FieldPak2 can record 6 hours of DV25 digital video (DV50 and IMX are available as options). Using FieldPak2, video clips can be accessed directly and edited with Avid editing systems. FieldPak 2 is available in either hard drive or solid state memory versions. Government and military agencies have been major users of Ikegami’s Editcam for several years.

"Our soldiers, sailors, and airmen are very pleased with the camera's ease of use, performance characteristics, and light weight," states Mark Vagnerini, the Army Broadcasting Service's Broadcast Operations Manager. "It gives our folks enormous opportunity to improve their creative skills while also improving our air product and bottom line."

In addition to the DNS-33W camcorder, Ikegami’s GV Expo 2004 product display will also feature the HL60W three- AIT CCD Full Digital Broadcasting camera, which can be configured for studio or field use. This switchable 16:9/4:3 camera combines outstanding operational flexibility and economy with high-quality performance and advanced DTV technology. Combining newly developed digital signal processing features with a compact size and low power consumption of just 10 watts, the HL-60W brings crisp imagery and value to a wide range of production applications. Featuring 38-bit internal processing, 67dB signal-to-noise ratio and 750 TVL resolution, a high sensitivity of f11, and low vertical smear of -135dB, the HL-60W offers impressive performance characteristics and specifications. Since all of the HL-60W’s imaging is performed by a single ASIC, the camera’s digital processing system is extremely compact and efficient, resulting in a camera-head weight of just 5.1 lbs. The HL-60W is also available with either component triax or two-channel triax configurations.

Also of great relevance to GV Expo 2004 attendees is Ikegami’s HDL-40HS 2.1 million-pixel HDTV compact box-style camera. The Ikegami HDL-40HS employs the image-processing power of Ikegami’s full-resolution CMOS (Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensors and can capture in native 720p, 1080i, or 1080p formats. The HDL-40HS weighs less than 4 lbs., is capable of slow-motion image capture, offers HD-SDI output, and is extremely well-suited for airborne applications, underwater use, surveillance, and POV (point-of-view) videography.

In addition to its long history of making innovative cameras that provide superb imagery, Ikegami is also well known for uncompromising quality in CRT and LCD-based HD and SD monitors. Ikegami’s exhibit at GV Expo 2004 features a wide variety of monitor choices, including an exciting new lineup of HD LCD models.
