Breakthrough Cameras, Monitors, Switchers and Accessories Keep Ikegami In The Lead
NAB 2002: Ikegami, the leading name in broadcast and professional quality cameras, monitors and more, has redefined broadcast technology once again with the introduction of several highly advanced new systems for digital television production. The debut of the Ikegami TDP-370H HDTV Portable Switcher, HDK-79E(IT) camera, HDL-20 ultra-compact 2-chip color camera, HL-60W camera, and HTLM-600D 6" HDTV LCD monitor are just a few of the latest additions to the industry-leading Ikegami line of digital television products which will be on display at NAB 2002.
"We are showing the largest, most highly developed line of digital HD and SD products in Ikegami history at this year’s NAB," says Alan Keil, VP and Director of Engineering for Ikegami. "Our deep experience in the broadcast market has allowed us to make our latest cameras, switchers, monitors and accessories the leading choice throughout the industry."
The latest switcher from Ikegami, the TDP-370H HDTV Portable Switcher, is a compact design with features that significantly raise the bar for HD field production performance. With two ME buses and multi-standard operation in 1080p/24p, 1035i, and 720p, the
TDP-370H is the most flexible HD switcher yet from Ikegami. Optional chroma key and DVE also significantly increase the possibilities. With two built-in keyers and up to 16 inputs and 6 output buses available in a compact and self-contained 4RU unit, the Ikegami TDP-370H makes advanced HD production in trucks and small studios a reality.
Ikegami’s flagship line of HDK cameras is more accessible than ever with the addition of the HDK-79E(IT) 2/3" 2,200,000 pixel CCD portable camera for HDTV . Ikegami’s newly developed IT (Interline Transfer) chip delivers a very high level of performance at a lower cost than Ikegami FIT-equipped cameras. Designed from the ground up for DTV, the HDK-79E(IT) can provide simultaneous HDTV and SDTV signals, and includes such features as six-axis + two-axis color corrector, enhanced digital DTL, and Super KNEE.
The HDK-790E/79E line will be exhibited with Ikegami’s new compact, lower cost half-rack base station. With a dramatically lower weight of just 22 lbs. and equipped with a hybrid fiber/copper cable, the smaller size base station is a highly portable unit that makes the HDK-79E particularly well suited for flight packs and other fast-moving applications.
Also new in the Ikegami HDK family is the HDK-79NA camera, with separate optical block. Designed specifically for use with a gyro stabilizer in helicopters where platform size is a key consideration, this model pairs the rugged HDK-79 camera body with a separate 3" cube containing Ikegami’s high performance 3 CCD sensor block, connected by a 10m cable. For airborne applications where space is at a premium, the HDK-79NA is the ideal solution.
Full portability in native 720/60P is available with the Ikegami HDK-720P Portable Companion HDTV camera. Building on the success of the studio version of the HDK-720, this 2/3" native 720p CCD portable camera brings the crisp detail of progressive output into a highly flexible, field-ready package. Outfitted with the Ikegami System Expander, the camera can be converted from full studio application to full portability or jib-arm compatibility in about one minute. Ikegami’s leading, next generation ASICs ensure lower power consumption and advanced processing. While high quality 720p video is directly output from the CCDs, 480p and 480i formats are also supported, and NTSC lenses can be mounted. With its fast-change capabilities and superior imaging, the HDK-720P is a truly multifunctional camera for high-end applications.
Another versatile Ikegami model is the HDL-V90 one piece DVCPRO camcorder. Using 2.2 million pixel 1080i CCDs, the ENG/EFP-style HDL-V90 incorporates full digital processing with 12-bit A/D conversion in a body as small and light as an SDTV camera. When connected with a multicore cable to the Ikegami RCU-79 CCU, the HDL-V90 can also be used as a full-fledged studio camera.
Following in the footsteps of the highly popular HDL-10 ultra-compact HD CCD camera, Ikegami has doubled the performance with the introduction of the HDL-20 2-chip camera. Featuring two 2/3", 2,200,000 pixel CCD image sensors, achieving unparalleled performance in a small-body design, the full-digital HDL-20 offers significant performance gains with only a small size increase. For microscope applications, specialized videography, sports coverage, factory automation, surveillance and a wide variety of POV uses, the HDL-20 offers the ultimate in color fidelity, digital stability and ease of operation for specialized situations.
On display with Ikegami’s compact HDL-40 camera will be a newly developed HDTV fiber transmission system from Ikegami. Extremely long distance camera control, sync lock, and HD SDI transmission will now be possible via a pair of simple fibers.
Extending the most advanced production values to Ikegami’s SDTV cameras, the new HL-60W 3-chip AIT CCD Digital also debuts. This lower-cost, switchable 16:9/4:3 camera features a 520,000 pixel CCD and uses Ikegami’s latest ASIC with 0.18 micron design, featuring 38-bit internal processing, 65 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 750 TVL resolution. This camera can be integrated with the high end triax systems from Ikegami, and has option for servo filter wheel control.
The self-contained Ikegami SKC-410 and HC-250 POV cameras will also debut. Both the SKC-410 with 2/3" CCD, and the HC-50 with ½" CCD are a highly compact solution for traffic, weather, internal machine views, and a host of other vision applications.
Another Ikegami introduction will be the eagerly anticipated DNR-20 Dockable Disk Recorder. The next generation version of the Ikegami EditCam2’s dockable recorder, the DNR-20 improves with a 40% reduction in weight, as well as vastly lower power consumption. Designed to fit any camera accepting a dockable recorder, the DNR-20 allows camera personnel to acquire directly to the FieldPak2, recording in AVR and jfif files. With no moving parts besides the FieldPak2 elevator and door, the DNR-20 offers all the benefits of the Editcam2 recorder to a wide range of users.
Ikegami’s reputation as a world leader in video monitors continues to grow with the HTLM-600D 6" HDTV LCD monitor. This multistandard 16:9 monitor accepts digital inputs, and works in 1080/60i and 1080/24p(sF). Ideal for use in the field in conjunction with a camcorder, the HTLM-600D gives producers the opportunity to make highly accurate judgments on image quality.
The HTM1700R is a low-cost monitor offering an excellent set of features. Highlights include NTSC/PAL, HDTV/SDTV multi-format compatibility, selectable 4:3/16:9 aspect ratio, plus virtually any video format with plug in analog or digital input cards. With 800 TVL horizontal resolution, natural flat screen, and RS-232C remote interface, this
19" rack mountable monitor is a flexible, high-value addition to any production facility.
Ikegami is also unveiling the V-R44P 4" Quad LCD monitor for SDTV production. The set of four 4"LCD’s in a rack-mounted panel benefits from Tally, Loop-through, and auto NTSC/PAL detection. An ultra-compact design, the monitor fits in EIA standard rack that’s just 2U high. With ultra bright panels of 300 candle luminance each and high resolution 480 x 234 pixels (112,320 total) performance, the Ikegami V-R44P is an amazingly compact solution.
The new V-R53P 5" Triple LCD monitor is a rack mounted, full color active matrix LCD panel.
