Nonlinear, Intelligent Functions
Instant Preview Through Random Access
Editcam automatically assigns clip
numbers to recorded scenes. Selecting a clip number allows the playback of that clip
instantly. eliminating the need for shuttling forward or reverse as with a VTR.
Non-Linear Editing
Imagine being able to rough cut
a series of clips in the field, before you get back to the edit suite. The EditcamStation
is essentially a portable nonlinear field editor. Clips can be easily trimmed and re-arranged
by connecting the EditcamStation to the Remote User Interface (RUI) via a laptop
computer (PC with Windows 95 required). Many versions of the resulting sequential play list
can be loaded to the nonlinear editor for adding graphics or effects. Compatible models of
Avid Nonlinear editors include the MediaComposer, Avid Express and NewsCutter.
Switchable Record Quality between High-Quality Online
Resolution and Extended Record Mode
Online (AVR-70B/AVR-70BH)
In the high quality online mode,
approximately 30 minutes of record time can be accommodated on one FieldPak.
Off line (AVR-4S)
In the higher compression, lower
resolution mode. longer record times can be achieved. This mode is ideal for film
taps or surveillance video.
On-the-Fly-Playback
Direct interface with Editcae FieldPak
The EditcamStation can use the
same recording medium used by the Editcae Disk Camera. This footage is available
for editing, on-air-playback. duplication, and more.
The Ideal Back-Up Recorder
Recorded cuts can be immediately
checked through random access. By cutting and pasting clips in a sequence, rough-cuts
can be accomplished in the field. The EditcamStation is perfectly suited as a
back-up machine for emergency on-air applications.
Copy Functions
Data Transfer to an External Hard Disk Drive
Through SCSI interface, the EditcamStation
can record directly to the media drives of a MediaComposer, Avid Express or
NewsCutter. Up to eight 18Gbyte drives can be housed in an Avid Media Dock to provide enormous
amounts of storage.
Copying One FieldPak to Another
The EditcamStation has the ability
to move clips from one FieldPak to another. This allows for the consolidation of files
and immediately frees FieldPaks for use elsewhere.
-
Complete Compatibility with any VTR
Files can be copied from the EditcamStation
to any recorder through a number of format outputs.
Completes Integration to Existing Systems
D1 input/output
In addition to analog composite,
the EditcamStation includes D1 digital component inputs and outputs. This ensures a seamless
fit in even the highest quality NTSC system

External Remote Control Through RS-422 Serial Interface
The EditcamStation will accept
commands from most editors and behave as a VTR in an edit system (some functions may not
be available. depending on the controller used).
Space Saving
The EditcamStation fits in a
half rack width and is powered by 12volts DC. It is perfectly suited for space-sensitive applications,
like mobile production vans.
Remote Control via Laptop Computer
A laptop operating an Windows 95
can control the EditcamStation through the Remote User Interface (RUI). This allows for
in-the-field nonlinear editing in an extremely compact package.
