WITH IKEGAMI CAMERAS
Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles Upgrade Stadium Production Values
with Multiple Ikegami HL-45AW and HL-V75W CamerasKENILWORTH, NJ - August 4, 2003: Three National Football League teams will treat their fans to unbeatable scoreboard video action with new Ikegami cameras. Installed by systems integrator Diversified Systems, Inc., a total of 12 Ikegami HL-45AW 3CCD portable digital cameras and 3 HL-V75W DVCPRO50 camcorders will provide the best scoreboard production values yet at Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium, Detroit's Ford Field and Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field.
"These production facilities are mobile units with as much power as the broadcast trucks that pull up to do the show," says Tom Sullivan, Managing Engineer for Diversified Systems. "Ikegami cameras allow the scoreboard producers to get the shots they need, with broadcast quality and broadcast reliability."
For Diversified Systems and their NFL clientele, the Ikegami cameras offered a winning combination of image quality and durability that made them ideal for feeding the massive stadium displays, in formats ranging from 16:9 to 32:9. "The fans expect it to look like what they see on their network feed, and the Ikegami cameras have the performance and full shading controls for that broadcast-level look," Sullivan says. "The robustness of the Ikegami cameras is also extremely important: These cameras might be shooting the game with a wireless pack and a long lens, and then get taken down to the studio to quickly swap glass and get changed over to a dockable camera."
Ikegami's commitment to service allows Diversified Systems to put the cameras into the production loop without worry. "Weve had very good experiences with Ikegami's service and support," confirms Sullivan. "They understand that it's always a time crunch, so they get back to us in a timely fashion and help us out."
The Ikegami HL-45AW is a cutting-edge, high-performance digital camera with new-generation ASICs that support reductions in camera size, weight and power consumption. High performance is achieved through three IT CCDs that provide an astounding 900 (HL-45A), 750(HL-45AW) TV lines, or more, resolution, a modulation depth of 75% (5MHz), a dynamic range of 600%, a sensitivity of f10 (HL-45A), f11 (HL-45AW) at 2000 lux and a S/N of 64dB (NTSC) and a switchable 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio(HL-45AW). For cost-savings, the HL-45A/45AW connects with existing TA/BS-OCP-40, and newly developed TA/BS/OCP-45 for wideband triax operation.
The HL-V75W DVCPRO50 camcorder represents a marriage of Ikegami's digital video technology and DVCPRO Series Digital VTR. In addition to the world-wide best-selling DVCPRO, now DVCPRO50 with 4:2:2 encoding is ideally suited for high-end productions. The camera section features digital processing from Ikegami's next-generation ASICs, and is designed for maximum camera performance inherited from the HL Series, while taking full advantage of DVCPRO's characteristics. DVCPRO all-in-one digital portable cameras are tailored to cover various applications, from news gathering to production, with operating versatility and outstanding picture quality.
The Ikegami cameras being used by the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles mean their fans will love watching the action on the scoreboard as much as on the field. Scoreboard presentations have evolved from being just one camera to a full-blown production that's integral to the entertainment package," Tom Sullivan says. "We're always looking for the equipment that's best in its class with responsive service and great value -- when it comes to cameras, that's Ikegami.E/P>
