TAIWAN HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY SELECTS IKEGAMI TSUSHINKI CO., LTD.
TO SUPPLY COMPLETE CCTV SYSTEM

TOKYO - The CCTV Products Group of Ikegami Tsushinki Co., Ltd. has been selected to supply the complete surveillance camera system for the Taiwan High-Speed Railway, known as the Taiwan Shinkansen. Ordered by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., the CCTV system from Ikegami, a leading manufacturer of digital cameras and monitors, will incorporate four hundred surveillance cameras when the railway opens on October 31, 2005, making it the largest railway surveillance system in the world.

The CCTV surveillance system for the railway covers a run of approximately 215 miles between the cities of Taipei and Tsoying, and will be installed at all passenger stations, tunnels, feeder stations, the maintenance control center, and five depots. Making full use of the company's leadership in video compression technology, the Taiwan Shinkansen CCTV system uses MPEG2 to compress the video data and IP as the protocol to transmit the video over a combination of optical fiber ring and basic networks. The entire surveillance system, including video, camera control and equipment status control are all efficiently integrated on the IP network. Delivery for the system will commence in the spring of 2003.
