AND LCD MONITORS AT GV TECH EXPO 2005"Editcam3 tapeless nonlinear video acquisition, advanced digital multiformat high definition and standard definition cameras, and space-saving color LCD monitors are among the many areas of vital interest to government video professionals at all levels," observes Alan Keil, VP and Director of Engineering for Ikegami. "Ikegami is always at the leading edge of developing versatile new television technologies that meet the needs of professional and broadcast-level video communicators, and at the GV Tech Expo attendees will see all of this and more in booth number 1310."
Editcam3-Now in its third generation with the DNS-33W Editcam3 camcorder, Ikegamifs tapeless nonlinear ENG/EFP video acquisition solution was the industryfs first, and has since been embraced by multiple government agencies. Editcam3 employs removable non-linear FieldPak2 media of up to 80 GB capacity that can record 6 hours of DV25 digital video (DV50 and IMX are available as options). Using FieldPak2, video clips can be accessed directly and edited with all Avid NLEs. Editcam3 can also create MXF-compliant files compatible with Pinnacle and Quantel editing systems. And Editcam3 is compatible with Applefs Final Cut Pro NLE via Telestreamfs new Flip4Mac digital media tools. FieldPak 2 is hard-disk based media; a solid state RAMPak is also available for the Editcam3, enabling users to choose which type of tapeless media they prefer. RAMPak at present offers 16GB but will increase in capacity as solid state recording technology advances.
The Editcam3 DNS-33W camcorder is a proven performance leader in tapeless ENG and EFP production. A next-generation 520,000-pixel AIT (Advanced Interline Transfer) CCD camcorder, the DNS-33W leverages its tapeless design by providing such revolutionary nonlinear recording innovations as Retroloop (so videographers never miss a shot), Intelligent Recording (which automatically records to available FieldPak2 or RAMPak space), and Timelapse Recording.
In addition to the DNS-33W Editcam3 camcorder, a wide range of production versatility is made possible by additional camera models that Ikegami is exhibiting at the GV Tech Expo. These cameras include the HDK-75EX advanced technology compact lightweight full-digital HDTV portable camera system, the HC-D57/D57W three-CCD broadcast quality portable digital camera, and the HDL-40 series advanced technology one-piece full digital box-type HDTV cameras. Ikegamifs color LCD video monitors will also be shown.
The HDK-75EX Full Digital HDTV Portable Camera System-Featuring a compact, lightweight, sophisticated design and an integrated fiber adaptor, this multi-use camera is designed to meet the format requirements of both HDTV and SDTV. Equipped with three 2/3-inch 2,200,000-pixel IT CCDs, the HDK-75EX is a high-performance 12-bit full digital portable camera incorporating new, next-generation digital process ASICs. This advanced digital design makes possible such special features as sophisticated color-correction functions, enhanced digital DTL (detail) to improve rendering of texture and skin tone, Super Knee to handle high contrast scenes without excessive loss of color saturation of highlighted areas, and Clear VF and Wideband DTL functions for improved focusing and resolution. Designed for the DTV age, the HDK-75EX works with Ikegamifs new CCU-790A camera control unit or compact BS-79 base station unit; using a downconverter incorporated into the CCU and base station, the HDK-75EX can also be operated as a high-end NTSC studio camera. Ikegamifs SE-H700 System Expander enables the HDK-75EX to be outfitted with a seven-inch viewfinder and a full studio lens for studio camera operation.
The HC-D57/D57W Portable Digital Camera-Employing a new 12-bit digital processing IC, the HC-D57/HC-D57W is flexible for production in both the field and studio. The HC-D57 features three IT CCDs and a 4:3 fixed aspect ratio; the HC-D57W version uses three AIT CCDs and is switchable between 4:3 and 16:9. The HC-D57/HC-D57Wfs advanced digital processing provides a variety of features, including multiple DTL settings, back-light compensation, and a black stretch function that can be used to bring out detail in shadowy portions of video images. The HC-D57W also includes a memory card slot so that the camerafs operating status, set-up, and detail settings can be stored for recall whenever needed. Compatible with Ikegamifs TA/BS-45 triax system, the HC-D57/HC-D57W offers both broadcast-grade picture quality and studio system expansion at an exceptional price. The camera can also be used in combination with a variety of dockable VTR formats.
Also of great relevance to GV Tech Expo attendees is Ikegamifs HDL-40 Series one-piece full digital box-type HDTV camera. Employing the latest 2/3-inch IT CCDs, 12-bit A/D conversion, full digital processing with next-generation ASIC, and native 720/60p image capture, the HDL-40p weighs less than 4 lbs., offers HD-SDI output, and is extremely well-suited for airborne applications, underwater use, surveillance, and POV (point-of-view) videography.
LCD Video Monitors-In addition to its long history of making innovative cameras, Ikegami is also well known for uncompromising quality in video monitors. The latest examples of this excellence are Ikegamifs LCD-based HD and SD monitors. These include the HLM-2200 and HLM-1700R (22-inch and 17-inch) multi-format LCD color monitors, which save space, are lightweight, and are low in power consumption. Compatible with all HDTV and SDTV formats, the HLM-2200 and HLM-1700R are well-suited to mobile production vehicles, helicopters, blimps, small edit rooms, and all other environments in which space-saving, high-performance color video monitoring is needed.
For outstanding mobility, the HLM-900 is Ikegamifs high-end 8.4-inch HDTV LCD color monitor with TFT LCD display. Suitable for mobile or field operation, the HLM-900R can be mounted in a 19-inch rack with a two-monitor configuration. In the field, the HLM-900P is a lightweight accessory that videographers can depend on for accurate HD/SD multi-format video monitoring.
Ikegami also offers a wide variety of rack-mountable color LCD NTSC/PAL video monitors to suit the many display needs of government video professionals.Visit Ikegami during GV Expo Tech 2005 at Booth # 1310 at the Washington DC Convention Center.
